The Washington Post doesn’t understand rural America. Here’s the latest:
How [do the citizens of Montana] begin to understand Barack Obama, the Democratic presidential nominee, who could become the first black president? Particularly when they may never have seen a black mayor, a black school principal or even a black shift supervisor?
Apparently Montanans can only understand Barack Obama if they know a black person? Never mind that Barack was raised for much of developmental years by white Grandparents. That doesn’t matter. To the Post, white Montanas are too dumb to understand Barack Obama. Could the Post be any more racist?
The headline is not a joke. Obama’s tax plan reduces the incentives for high income earners to work. Therefore, many won’t have incentive to work harder and will spend time in other pursuits. Here’s Mankiw:
The bottom line: If you are one of those people out there trying to induce me to do some work for you, there is a good chance I will turn you down. And the likelihood will go up after President Obama puts his tax plan in place. I expect to spend more time playing with my kids. They will be poorer when they grow up, but perhaps they will have a few more happy memories.
Here’s one more Republican Senator who will be replaced by a Democrat in a few days–Ted Stevens guilty on all seven counts. It’s too bad America is going to get crushed by the oncoming leftist tide because Republicans gave up on their principles, and in the case of Stevens, literally sold out. Thanks guys.
I’m bummed, Tony Hillerman died yesterday. He was one of my favorite authors. I love the stark desert country of the southwest and Hillerman brought the Navajo Reservation to life better than anyone I have ever read. He had a great love for the Navajo people and his books were engaging because he entwined their their thinking, rituals, and way of life into his mystery novels. Indian reservations are generally depressing places because they are usually economically depressed. But somehow Hillerman made them vibrant.
If you haven’t read any of Tony Hillerman, pick up one of his book today. They are quick and fun reads.
