Fiddling while the world burns (strike that) cools…

The Senate is currently debating the Boxer-Lieberman-Warner carbon tax bill. And on cue, Mother Nature shows that we don’t know anywhere near as much as we think we know about global warming. The latest satellite data shows that the average global temperature during May was 0.180 C below the average from 1979 to 2008 (the satellite they use was put in orbit in late 1978). Global average temperatures have fallen 0.774 C over the past 16 months.

On the Senate floor we hear dire predictions about what happens if we don’t “do something.” Yesterday Senator Boxer said 40% of species would die and the polar bears would be wiped out. But temperature isn’t cooperating with the rhetoric.

Mother Nature is showing us that we don’t know nearly as much as we thought we did about the drivers of earth’s climate.
