What better time for CAIR and other Muslim leaders to step up, cut through the politically correct fog and provide factual answers to the questions that give so many non-Muslims pause?Generally speaking, those questions focus on whether the Quran does indeed promote violence against non-Muslims, and how many of the terrorists’ ideas
The non-Muslim world and mainstream Muslim leaders need to publicly denounce these beliefs. No religion should explicitly or implicitly advocate violence against “unbelievers”. Given the rising tensions between the Muslim world and the West, we should all take a close look at our religious beliefs. Jeremy’s call to study The Book of Mormon is timely. I assume you would never advocate the mass killing of otherwise innocent non-mormons; you probably wouldn
That’s a good question. My best answer is Romans 12:19 (or Mormon 3:14, or Mormon 8:30) 19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
It’s not my place to kill people in God’s name. Vengeance is the Lords.
A more difficult question is how to reconcile passage such as Joshua 6:21 and Deuteronomy 12:2-3 where the Lord tells Israel to utterly destory another people.
That’s not an answer at all. It just begs the question of what the lord says “Vengeance is mine; I will repay”. Also what Jesus does in these passages of the book of mormon is more like terrorism than vengence. Why is he taking vengence against innocent children by drowning, burning and burying them? Were you really satisfied with the answer you gave?
